Employee Spotlight: Adam Lownds

At Laser Central we know we wouldn’t be the company we are today without our incredible team. We want our team to know how much we appreciate them and we want our clients to know the faces behind the service we provide. Our monthly ‘Employee Spotlight’ series gives us a chance to showcase the hardworking individuals who make Laser Central what it is.

First off the block is Adam Lownds. Adam has been an employee at Laser Central for 12 years. We sat down to ask him some questions and get to know him a little better.

What is your position at Laser Central?

I am a machine operator on any of the flat beds.

What does an average day look like for you?

Busy. Really busy. You don’t know what you’re in for. It’s different every day.

How long have you been working at Laser Central?

I’ve been here since 2006. 12 years now. Over the years it [the operation] has gotten a bit tighter and more organised. Back in the day we always got things done but it was a little bit more chaotic. Now everything seems to be where it should be. You know what you’re doing. It’s great.

What do you like about working at Laser Central?

The people. The people are fantastic here. I could never say a bad thing about any of them. Everyone is friendly, we all get on and have a bit of fun. It’s a good place to be.

What do you like to do in your down time?

I like to do a bit of online gaming. I’m getting a bit old now but I’ve been gaming forever. The boys all try to get together on a Friday and have a few beers and a bit of a crack at some games. I also really like the UFC. I’ve been to a few events here in Australia and all of them have been really good. When you’ve been watching something on TV for so long and then you see it in real life it sort of blows you away a bit.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Be honest. Be yourself. Don’t try and be someone you’re not.

What inspires and motivates you to get up in the morning?

Family. Everyday they motivate me to get up and to come into work and make some money for them.

What’s your secret superpower or something you are good at that usually surprises people?

I can draw. I used to do a bit of graffiti back in the day. I still pull out the pad and pen and draw characters and stuff like that. I don’t know if that’s a superpower though.

What is your favourite food?

I like ribs. The stickier the better. In any restaurant I’ll always go for the ribs.

What is your favourite singer/artist/band/?

I’ve got to say 90s hip hop. Any hip hop from back then. I like my old stuff.

What actor would you like to play you in a movie?

Probably Hugh Jackman. Why not?

If you could be any animal what would it be?

A Lion. I really like Lions.

What is your dream holiday?

Since I was a kid I’ve always wanted to do Disneyland. New York would also be pretty cool.

Do you know any good jokes?

No. I’m terrible at jokes and I hate it when people try to tell me jokes and they’re not good joke tellers. Sometimes you sit through a joke and it gets to the end and you go “Oh no. I’m going to really have to try and laugh at this one.”
