Laser Central Helps UQ Space Take Home The Gold

In 2019, Laser Central is focusing on looking to the future, this includes supporting organisations within our community that provide opportunities for the bright young minds of tomorrow.

One of these organisations is UQ Space who recently took home the gold at the inaugural Australian Universities Rocket Competition. Laser Central was proud to support UQ Space by providing them with two rocket stands that were designed and built by us.

This competition gave young engineers and scientists across the country the opportunity to show off the rockets that they had designed and built themselves. It took place over four days and students competed in a variety of different challenges to see which team’s rocket would go the distance.

UQ Space not only took home first place for 10 000ft but also managed to secure first place for the overall competition! We are honoured to have played a small part in the team’s victory.

At Laser Central, UQ Space is one of a handful of student organisations we partner with. We love being part of the development and education of young people whose passion and enthusiasm is a constant source of inspiration.
